Just like the name suggests, the Extreme Cardio Kettlebell is a serious workout program that will test even the very fit person. The Extreme Cardio Kettlebells routines use a series of challenging movements, like the Turkish Get-up, windmills, and slingshots. So if you’re looking to test your fitness, stay in shape with limited time, or are a cold water diver who looks to keep fit to lug your double tanks, this may be it! Extreme Cardio kettlebell one (ECK1) by Kieth Wiber is an excellent work out in my opinion. The video workout comprises several videos that make up a total body workout. Each video builds on the last and is done one after another. The entire workout should take 45-50 mins depending on your fitness level. Keith Weber recommends men start with a kettlebell from 35-50lb and women start with 15-20lb; these are just recommendations from the website. Use your intuition if you are new to kettlebell workouts and movements begin with lighter weight. And focus on correct technique and form. Once you get the hang of it, you can up the weight and feel your body transform. My workout routine is generally working out 3-5 days a week. Those can alternate between Extreme Cardio Kettlebell and intense 10 km runs and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. If I am time-constrained, I will typically build workout routines out of the videos to meet my available time. I usually do the full ECK1 for time (moving from video to video as fast as possible) several times a year to assess my fitness level. Coldwater diving can be pretty taxing. I like to dive with steel double tanks and an extra stage tank at times; the temperature extremes, being in good overall physical fitness, makes diving so much more enjoyable for me and seriously decreases my surface air consumption to my buddies. Since I have incorporated the extreme cardio Kettlebell workout routine, I am lifting more weight than I have in the past. I have shed 2-4% body fat, depending on the season. I usually am around 15%, but since incorporating ECK, I can hover in the 12%, and I always feel up to the physical challenge of cold water diving. What is Extreme Cardio Kettlebell Extreme Cardio Kettlebells (ECK)is a kettlebell routine developed by Keth Weber, a physiotherapist living in Alberta, Canada. If you know anything about Kieth, he is a fitness fanatic right up there with the best of them. He developed the First Extreme Cardio Kettlebells video, which I feel like is the most challenging, but he subsequently came up with three other routines, which I think are great to have because some of the videos add some fun variations or more upper body routines or lower body routines that I can add alone into the original ECK1 Extreme Cardio Kettlebell, the original, is composed of 8 videos: Each video starts with a broad description of each circuit’s expectations, what exercises and how many of each and when you will be alternating sides. Word to the wise when he says, “this is going to be a challenge,” he isn’t kidding, and when he says “you're almost there,” those are lies; there are several sets after he says that. Lol Manmaker (6:14) Comprises clean, clean and press, then overhead squats, windmills and snatches.Upper Body Blast (7:47) Comprises: windmill, shoulder press, clean, two-handed kettlebell curl, bent over row kettlebell push up, kettlebell lat raises and swings.Leg Burner (5:59) Overhead squat, Squat Kick, overhead lung, alternating lung through 20 swings 20 air squatsSlingshot (7:00) is a series of overhead presses, cleans, and squats while doing a slingshot movement between sets.Swing (6:47) A series of overhead presses cleans, squats with swings in between each set.Turkish get-ups (11:30): Two Turkish get-ups per side with windmill, squat, and ten swings. For a total of 5 sets, this is one of my favourites. The abdominal routine (12:55) is a long one and covers every area of your core. You don’t have to get them all. I started with the first one for years. It is the most challenging, but the other videos are great because they incorporate some completely different routines and even double kettlebell workouts, which push your endurance and core strength. I would give ECK 1 a 5/5 rating for being challenging and a whole body workout. For the entire series, I would give it 4.5/5 only because I wish the ECK3 and ECK4 were longer, but then again, I can barely get through them. If you take up the challenge and add Extreme cardio kettlebells to your workout routine, bring lots of water, a good attitude and a get ready-to-grind. The feelings after these workouts are just bliss, and please don’t forget to stretch. The routines can be pretty intense on the back, and the shoulders don’t want to lose your range of motions for those valve drills in doubles.
