I was involved in martial arts, which helped me make fitness a lifestyle. Then, as I got into diving, I tailored my exercises to help my diving. That led me to wonder if there is a book catering to scuba divers and scuba fitness. Leave it to the Global Underwater Explorer to Do it Right on their website, where I found a valuable resource, Fitness for Divers.

Fitness for divers is a great simple book that Breaks down effortlessly and straightforwardly why a diver needs to be physically fit to dive and, more importantly, how fitness improves your diving. The Author, Cameron Martz, a certified Health and fitness instructor at the American College of Sports medicine, breaks down what fitness level a diver should aim for if starting in fitness. In addition, he gives a very informative breakdown of the benefits of strength training along with Cardiovascular exercise and how they come into play when diving.

If you are new to fitness and a diver, look no further than Fitness for divers. Cameron gives you everything you need to change your body for diving. This book will provide a beginner and even an intermediate person into fitness with everything you need to start improving your fitness. There is a breakdown of the warm-up plan and exercises encompassing the whole body. You are even given a 6-month beginner and intermediate fitness/workout plan. Everything is research, and evidence-based Cameran presents several studies justifying his fitness suggestions for diving.

I was pretty surprised by how much information this book came with, especially when considering the digital download cost of $22.95. You can’t go wrong with implementing the workout routines and knowledge presented in this book. Leave it to GUE to always do it right!

The only negative I would have for the book is that it could use a slight update. All the workouts in the book are for standard gym equipment (bodyweight or Weights). It would be nice if other workout plans incorporated kettlebells and TRX training. Nevertheless, I think the book is fantastic.
